What i've learned this week
This week on the beginning of the science in term 4, i've learned more about sounds. On Monday, 21 April 2014, i learned more about sounds, vibrations and also how to find distance of the sound travels, the way to find the speed of sound when travels and how long can a sound travels. in order to find one of them either if it's distance, speed or time, we need to have at least two of them, for example to find the speed we need to know the distance and the time to calculate and find the speed of the sound.
The symbol for distance is s, then the symbol for speed is v and for time is t. how to calculate them is like for example : S= v x t , V = s : t , T= s : v. use those calculations and i can find the answers for the worksheet that the teacher gave me.
On 24 April 2014, i've learn that sound is a longitudinal wave because sound can makes compression and rarefaction in it's transmission. i've learn that the speed of sound travels depends on the medium that they travel, (The mediums are solid, liquid and gas), Sound travels faster in solid because solid has the most molecule from the three, for liquid is medium and for gas, sound travel slower than liquid. but gas, has the most energy than the three which means solid has the least energy from the three.
What is speed of sound? speed of sound is the ratio of the distance to be covered by the sound and the time needed by the sound to travel. there are there types of sounds; infrasonic, audible, and ultrasonic. Infrasonic are below 20 hertz (which is to low to be heard by human ear) Ultrasonic is more than 20,000 hertz (which is to high to hear by the human ear) but audible is 20 - 20,000 hertz which can be heard by the human ears.
And that is basically what i've learn this week and hopefully i could learn more and maybe more interesting next week.
